A slew of updates. A SLEW. Warning: Fanboying ahead.

I had posts written while I was in Switzerland for vacation. Ended up not posting them because some topics were outdated by the time I got home to post. But here it goes.
FOLKLORE (PS3)
Bought Folklore. 10 minutes in. Still on my to-do list. Shame on me.
…That’s it, really. Haven’t touched it. I feel bad, because it really is a pretty game. I promise to start playing after I finish GTA4. Whenever that may be. But I’ll get on it. I’ve been really interested in this game.
FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: RINGS OF FATE (NDS)
-Started it, still need to finish it. According to my buddy Justin it’s very short, 12 hours of gameplay. I don’t find that a valid complaint though: Heavenly Sword was beaten in 6 hours. Very cute, though. Especially impressed because it’s the first DS title in the FF series with voices. The acting quality is pretty good, so I have high hopes for FF4 now!
FINAL FANTASY 2 (PSP)
-Bought it when I was in Switzerland. Have yet to start it. But… at least it’s in my game library? My friend Thai was playing it while I was beating Phoenix Wright 3 during this vacation. He got quite far, and it was hard to give him pointers: it was his first Final Fantasy and this was an entry in the series I had never played before.
METAL GEAR SOLID 4 (PS3)
-This game is so amazing. I… can’t really say anything else. It was incredbily satisfying to finish up the story through this interactive BluRay movi–.. Ahem. “videogame”. I especially enjoyed the return of Naomi Hunter, Mei Ling and… even Rosemary. The Beauty & The Beast Corps are magnificent bosses, memorable to say the least. And it’s not because of their skin-tight outfits. I salute you, envy you and feel sorry for you, Solid Snake.
Sidenote: I hope River finishes up the Ghost Babel radioplay soon. I’m voicing Snake in that, and I’m kinda eager to hear it. I really, really hope I live up to fanboys’ expectations. And if they don’t like it, I’m just gonna have to stealth kill them in Solid Snake fashion.
I’ll take time to review it myself like I did with Devil May Cry 4.
CRISIS CORE: FINAL FANTASY VII (PSP)
So I originally reserved the EU limited edition of the game, which would come in a pretty box and included an artbooklet. Alas, the game store would just not receive their shipment, and when I last asked, they mentioned getting the limited edition PSP pack. Uh…no. I just want the game.
Which I then bought from another store. Eat that, Future Zone.
Zack is so incredibly adorable. Way back in Advent Children (Can you believe it’s been two years already since its release?), I was a bit “eh” about Rick Gomez getting cast as Zack, since he was already cast as Gippal in FFX-2, which was fine and dandy, but he doesn’t really have a vocal range. Same went for George Newbern as Sephiroth, previously cast as Nooj in FFX-2. But they make me forget FFX-2’s voice acting. It’s great to see how the acting has evolved throughout the Final Fantasy series as well. It was really spot-on in FF12.
The gameplay itself? Took me a little bit to get used to, but I love it. I’ll review it after I beat it, though I don’t know why I bother reviewing games that have been out forever? [insert shrug here.]
GUITAR HERO ON TOUR (NDS)
I bought it and I am playing the hell out of it. I think it’s awesome. Screw you guys. It’s got quite a few great tracks. I’m surprisingly fond of Pat Benatar now. “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” is such a fun song.
…Stop looking at me like that.
WARCRAFT III: REIGN OF FIRE/FROZEN THRONE. (PC)
This is what I played during my vacation in Switzerland last May. It was fun catching up with this classic again. But this will be the only Warcraft game for me, ever. World of Warcraft can suck it. However; I did audition for my good friend Kuro’s radioplay adaptation of the WoW comic. Since it has absolutely nothing to do with the idiotic European playerbase.
(No offense, Dylan. If I could play with US people, I might’ve given it a bigger shot.)
GTA IV (PS3)
Have you ever gone over the speedlimit? I’m sure you have.
Have you ever gone over the speedlimit and gotten yourself pulled over? I’m sure you have too.
Have you ever gone over the speedlimit, gotten pulled over, only to then ram your car into the policeofficer’s fat behind and leave a trail of his blood on the sidewalk?
I have. And if you’ve played GTA4, I’m pretty damn sure you have too.
That’s right. I caved and bought GTA4, buying another hyped up game, only a few weeks after it got released. I haven’t gotten too far into the game yet (Just finished the first mission with Playboy X), but that’s mostly because I’ve been too busy distracting myself with ways to ragdoll Niko, or those poor poor pedestrians.
Like that one time where I ended up in a park and just bulldozed over all the people-filled benches, and then launching the car from the stairs, only to land on some fat dude.
That one trip to the park had more kills in 10 seconds than I had done so in the entire game thusfar. (I’ve been trying to play the game nicely, following missions and only killing when necessary according to the storyline.)
GTA4’s cool. Being a PS3 player, I followed the precaution of turning off all kinds of options and of course, the internet connection. I’ll get back to it once I hit level 50 in FFXI or something.
What? I’m still married to *that* game, you know. Can’t neglect her.
FINAL FANTASY XI (PC)
-This warrants a blogpost of its own. Been doing a lot. Stuff like levelling, getting my RSE, fame levels, and exciting of Limit Break Radio news on my end!
Oh. And I have fic-updates and parodies going with this entry too. Look forward to it! …or not.
E3 – Didn’t follow it like I did last year. But Penny Arcade summed it up, pretty much. FFXIII on Xbox 360? I’m over it. The game’s still coming out on PS3. But I’ll be damned if people make fun of me for being a semi-early adopter of the system with FF13 as one of its reasons. I’m happy with my PS3. And I used my tax return to get it. AND I have an LCD TV to play it on. It’s so yummy. God of War III announcement was pretty cool.
And speaking of PS3…
Dark Mist (PSN)
Bought this because it seemed cute. And it IS cute! It’s a little dungeon crawler with Asteroids-like gameplay. I’m happy to have bought it from the store.
That’s it! I have some FFXI updates for the next post.
