If there ever was a time to come out of the gamer closet…
…I already did that years ago. It’s no secret I enjoy videogames and everything around it. So let’s start off with a picture.
So the past week I’ve been really bored at work. I currently work as a Marketing Assistant, but if the mediaschedules have been scheduled, the advertisements have been advertised and the websites have been…sited(?)…there’s only so much you can do.
And I only walk the dog ONCE a day. No more than that, please. I’ve had a livejournal for the longest time. But that’s more for personal blurbs. I have a Myspace account. But myspace is a cauldron of diseases and icky things. I honestly don’t understand why my friends use it, and nothing else. So the only way I can keep track of them…is Myspace.
Which is a cauldron of diseases and icky things. Dirty old men also hit on barely legal teenagers (Who usually end up being dirty old men as well. Joke’s on you, geezer!). The things I do just to keep track of you. My heart sighs sadly.
Facebook. I don’t really get the point of that either. But it’s cleaner than MySpace. And you can superpoke people. I like to poke. But not enough to add a bajillion…applicationwidgetwhatevers to it.
Livejournal? Pool of drama. And I have added too many people on my friendslist to casually check it like I used to do before work. Too much information and too much webtraffic for me to handle in the morning. The safest explanation for that is “lack of coffee”. Not “sleeping an extra 30-which-are-supposed-to-be-10 minutes”. Not “camping a stupid bird in FFXI for the mages in my linkshell until 4am”. No. Just lack of coffee. Because I have to deal with actual car traffic as soon as I walk out the door.
“The creativity comes to life…at work!”
Comes the point where I finally park the my trusty little Volkswagen Bora next to Dragonlady’s gas-guzzler wannabe-rap-mobile at the office. The dog’s there to bark at me, waking me enough to actually do my work. The best part of the job? I’m the only geek there. My alt-tab skills hide Gtalk coversations in long work-emails and HTML and CSS code. They would not know I am so incredibly bored to spend 6 hours a day F5-ing the Limit Break Radio forums. And reading webcomics. And Kotaku.
I could probably even watch NSFW crap because my computer is not equipped with speakers. But I never do. Because it’s “NSFW” for a reason.
The thing about this job, is when I have nothing to do, I still have to pretend like I HAVE something to do. That’s where I try to get my creative juices flowing. Since I can’t just sit around playing on my DS or PSP. (I wish I could. I have many games to finish.:(.) . Writing scripts for my radioplays for example. You would think that that is productive! And it is!
When your cast members get their lines in so you can finish the current script and send out the six scripts you’ve been writing at work.
Which they don’t. So then I think back of my amazing adventures in the world of Vana’Diel and start writing self-insert stories about my character. Of course…this is only possible when you have enough inspiration to write.
Then comes the webdesigning for people. This blog is powered by Wordpress! An amazing blogsystem I can’t be bothered to figure out well enough to make pretty templates of my own. Because by the time I get home from work, I’m too tired to do more computer stuff and go play FFXI with the love of my life instead.
Damnit, I still have fanart to paint.
Welcome to my blog. I still don’t know why I started it. Maybe next post, people.
