Why I Don’t Have A Wii.

Yeah, yeah, bring on the jokes about my lack of genetalia. You’re just about as awesome as generic gamer geeky innuendo joker years ago. I have a very valid reason why I don’t own a Nintendo Wii.
My fiancée owns one.
That’s right. Considering I’m making the move over to her in a year or so, it would seem kind of pointless to buy a Wii here in Holland.
(Where they aren’t sold out.)
If you check my Wishlist, however… I list three games that I want for the Wii. And they’re all Final Fantasy based. Square Enix really does have the power to make people spend money on things they don’t really need. It’s as if there is a subliminal message in their marketing campaign.
(Ew. Marketing. It’s weekend, damnit. I don’t want to deal with Marketing stuff right now x.x)
My buddy Steven also owns a one. He got one for his birthday in December. I have actually yet to play with his Wii.
Damnit, stop laughing. How old ARE you?
The only times I’ve ever played on the system was during parties, where I got to witness its appeal with groups. Annnnnnd that’s where the system lost me. It’s great for parties. I think the entire gaming community has accepted that. (Except Nintendo themselves, who think we really need more Mario Parties). My co-worker, who is not a gamer at all, said he was pretty interested in the system and that’s coming from the guy whose last videogame was PONG. I give him props for being THAT old school, but he loses it all by growing a fugly beard. Bad bad [name]. I remember not being that interested in the system when I found out only Zelda: Twilight Princess seemed interesting enough. Note: My experience with Zelda goes no further than only having completed the Minish Cap. But I’ll save that for another post.
Then again, having the end spoiled (by choice) by my pal Arthur (whom I got Z:TP for his birthday) kinda rendered completing the game myself kinda pointless. Go figure.
“So why do you have two games for the system on your wishlist??”
Come on. Everyone has games they are stoked for that only appear on other systems. And I am incredibly weak to the power of Square Enix. The trailer for FFCC: The Crystal Bearers seemed pretty awesome and was a title that got my interest for the system back some more. But after having completed Chocobo Tales on the DS and watching the trailer for the new Chocobo Dungeon game that is yet to be announced.. Holy shit, son. Chocobo changing JOB classes, no less? I want this. I need it so bad. Maybe you do, maybe you don’t understand my obsession for Final Fantasy. I will just leave it at that and hopefully as we progress along together, you’ll get exactly what I mean.

Otherwise you can just look at Chocobo with a White Mage hoodie and googoo at its cuteness. Nikki got me that. Isn’t it the best?
My Life As A King” is interesting to me from a technical point of view. It’s SE’s first WiiWare game, meaning it’s a Wii download only. Kinda like how fl0w was Playstation Network-only. I believe it’s the first game of SE to come out on the Wii, and looking at Square’s trackrecord, something they do really well is pushing a system to its limits, usually graphically, and have something extraordinary, usually graphically, by the end of the system’s lifespan. Look at FF4 SNES and then at FF6 SNES. Graphical evolution in 16-bit. Look at FF7 and then at FF9. More graphical evolution. FF 10 to FF12. Graphical. Evolution. That makes the graphics whore and artist in me very, very pleased.
If they manage to bring out pretty things on the system like My Life As A King (Which is supposedly small in size, short in length and lowly developed on minor resources), then things like The Crystal Bearers will be even prettier. And then you gotta realize that the system has only been around for 2 years.
Now, if it doesn’t follow its big brother Gamecube, the system will be around for a while. Especially when Nintendo is capable of milking out peripherals for it like they are. And Square Enix will have Final fantasy 15 on the system where you can cast magic with the flick of your wrist.
Kinda like Harry Potter.
lol.
So why don’t I have the Nintendo Wii in my possession yet? The answer is not that I have remote access to it yet such as Steven or Nikki. There simply aren’t any Final Fantasy games on it yet. I am that much of a fanboy. I got my DS for Final Fantasy 3. My PSP for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. My PS3 for Final Fantasy 13. Sure, in the case of PSP and PS3, the games I bought it for aren’t even released yet. But that’s because I’m also a Sony fanboy.
You might argue that Final Fantasy XI is out on Xbox. Which is true. But why would I buy an…X…box…
…I…kinda lost the motivation to write. Blame Xbox.
-TamTu, who really has more reasons why he actually likes the Wii, but kinda lost any coherent thought after mentioning X…bo..b…ugh.

I got my Ps3 for Metal Gear Solid 4. So we’re about even on that one… but my fandom/obsesison actually has a release date. XD
‘Course, that’s not to say that I won’t have FFXIII on the day it’s released here. If nothing else, my wife will see to that. ^^
